Do only Senior parents help with Project Grad?Usually, the volunteers who help are senior parents (or family members). They do not have to be though! Project Graduation is an organization that requires community help and requires a lot of volunteers to run smoothly. Parents, grandparents, family friends and PHS alumni are welcome to volunteer. In fact, we highly encourage underclassmen parents to get involved so you can experience PG before your student becomes a senior. Let’s be honest, senior parents are exceptionally busy during senior year and especially graduation time. The involvement of underclassmen parents makes graduation night less stressful and more enjoyable for senior parents. As an underclassmen parent, you will appreciate the support of other parents when your child is a senior!

What happens at Project Grad? Here's a basic run down of the evening: * Check in for the bus (typically a couple of hours after graduation ends) * Spend a few hours at the venue (games, food, drinks, raffle, etc.) * Back on the bus to head home * Check out and pickup raffle prizes and money (if applicable) at the high school * Students are released to leave

This rule is in accordance with our insurance policy and students and parents will be required to sign a waiver stating the rules.
-
Can students bring a backpack?Students will not need anything during Grad Night. Backpacks, purses, belt bags, food and drinks should stay at home. Food and drinks will be provided. Select students may choose to bring a small pouch and leave in a box with a designated adult at grad night. This pouch will stay in a designated spot, except when needed. This is for students who may need a medical device (inhaler), feminine products, etc. This is not for every student to bring items they do not need.
-
How do you know who is supposed to be at Grad Night? When a student checks in, they will receive an arm band and Project Grad t-shirt. BOTH of these items are to be worn during the entirety of the evening. This alerts on-site adults (both venue employees and parent volunteers) that someone is there without permission.

How did Project Graduation start?Project Graduation started after tragic teenage deaths and injuries from April to June of 1979 in the Oxford Hills area of Maine. Most of which were attributed to driving under the influence. The residents of the Oxford Hills wanted to find a way to prevent these tragedies and created Project Graduation. It offered graduates a fun place to celebrate all night long under adult supervision and with no alcohol or drugs. The first Project Grad was held on June 14th, 1980 and there were no drug or alcohol related fatalities or arrests that year. Project Grad is now common in most high schools throughout the United States and many also provide an After Prom to promote the same principals.

-
How can I donate to Project Grad?We seek contributions for sponsorship as well as in-kind donations of food and prizes. Please check out the Sponsors section of this website. You may also make a monetary donation via Venmo, Check/Cash directly to PHS Project Grad 2025.

What if we don't meet our Goal?If we don't meet the full $50,000, then we will have less raffle prizes and cash prizes for the seniors. Our priority is the admin costs and fulfilling the contract obligations we make for Grad Night (depending on where seniors choose to go for their event). Everything after these costs are covered, is a bonus!
